With 45+ years of experience, we’d be surprised if Jarrow Formulas didn’t learn a few tricks of the trade along the way. After all that time, they’ve got testing and certification down to a science. Supplement ingredients are tested before manufacturing and their products are third-party tested. With GMP certification by NSF International and organic certification by Quality Assurance International and the USDA as well as various other certifications, we were excited to review this product. We had high expectations when it came to this product and were honestly a little disappointed.
The first way we can judge efficacy is by the ingredients. With 125mg NMN per serving, this is an even smaller serving than our second pick and we don’t know that it is really enough to experience any benefits.
Our second concern is that the NMN is not the purest, most studied NMN. Patented NMN ensures quality, safety, efficacy, and stability. There is no mention regarding stability of the NMN used by Jarrow Formulas. Stability is important because it affects potency, plus, the need to keep it refrigerated makes it more difficult to take servings throughout the day as the pills cannot be easily packed in a purse or pocket or even left in plain sight on your counter as a reminder. At the end of the day, Jarrow Formulas provides few details about their NMN which doesn’t inspire our confidence.
Thirdly, there is no bioavailability enhancer, such as BioPerine®, nor is there any claim of testing for absorbability. Absorption is the key to a supplements efficacy, and the lack of any mention regarding absorption leaves us wondering if Jarrow Formulas forgot about this detail.
Lastly, we also examined reviews to gain insight into how effective a product is. There was a mixed rating when it came to star ratings but, to our surprise, the written reviews were overall positive.
There are no mentioned side effects of taking this product. However, as with any new supplement or diet introduced into your daily life, we always advise talking to your healthcare professional about possible contraindications of any pre-existing medical conditions or medications that you are taking. Supplements work differently for everyone and the effects vary between individuals so it is always a good idea to run any health changes with a professional.
Jarrow Formulas NMN is expensive for the amount that you get in a bottle. The serving size is a mere dosage of 125mg of NMN and not even a patented, high-quality NMN. Additionally, the NMN is likely not stable at room temperature and there is nothing to increase the bioavailability of this product. While the reviews are mostly positive, we can’t justify spending $58 on such a small amount of NMN. If you decide this is for you, just know that the satisfaction guarantee only applies to bottles with less than a month’s supply used so while the policy may extend to 60 days, you only get 30 days to try the product.
